History
The IFF “Love is folly” is one of the most important art events not only for fashionable Varna but also for the life of the European cinema industry.
For over 32 years, the doyen of international film festivals with a Bulgarian address, led by the ambition to broadcast the latest productions in the world of the seventh art, annually presents more than 90 films from both the Bulgarian and world film list.
Guests
Since 1993, over 1,500 feature films have been shown at the festival so far. Among the most famous guests of “Love is folly” have been well-known names such as Otar Iosseliani, Puriša Đorđević, Murad Ibragimbekov, Georgiy Daneliya, Marlene Kuciev, Veit Helmer, Nana Jorjadze, Stanislav Govorukhin, Richard Blank, Giuseppe Cino, Karen Shakhnazarov, Stella Belessi, Vera Glagoleva, Krzysztof Zanussi, Xavier Bermudez, Orhan Tekeoglu, Luis Diogo, Natalya Bondarchuk, Dan Chișu, Andreas Pantzis, Rob Wilson, Elem Klimov, Fabio Testi, David Foenkinos, Radu Gabrea, Alexander Kot, Hayman Pagani,Yuan Shang, Jean Roi, Charlotte Sieling, André Ceuterick and many others.
Program memberships
The “Love is folly” festival is organized by the “Kinofest”, with the cooperation of the Municipality of Varna, the Ministry of Culture and the National Film Center. The festival is a member of the only pan-European cinema hall chain Europa Cinemas at the European Commission.
